What does being a CAA mean?
We have a license with the IRS ITIN unit which allows us to certify passports for the sole purpose of obtaining an ITIN.
What does CAA stand for?
A CAA is a certified acceptance agent. We are licensed to assist with all aspects of applying for a US Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (known also as an ITIN).
We assist from start to finish and ensure that:
1. You are eligible for an ITIN
2. Complete all paperwork for the application process
3. Ensure all supporting documents are enclosed with the application
4. Complete certification and package all documents for mailing to the ITIN unit.
5. Liaise with the ITIN unit in case of processing issues or errors.
6. Follow up with you once the ITIN is issued to ensure you have received the assignment notice.
Do you sign my passport copy?
No - we complete a W-7COA form also known as a certificate of accuracy. This is attached to Form W-7 and submitted by us to the ITIN unit along with a copy of the passport page. This certification means you get to keep your passport instead of having to mail it to the US with your application.
What can I use the certification for?
The W-7COA is solely for the purpose of certifying for ITIN purposes. It cannot be used for any other purposes (like certifying ID documents for a US property sale).
